This is linked to our popular Facebook group by the same name which was set up in 2017.
The group has helped thousands of people over the past few years with everything from questions about the legal aspects of living in the UAE, to rental disputes, where to find a specific food item, to how to choose the right school, and how to solve a myriad of the unique problems, situations and differences we come across when living in the UAE.
Alongside these sorts of topics, we also cover issues in the UK that are relevant to us as Expats here. Whilst covering these serious subjects, as Brits we also like humour, jokes and more amusing information to generally make our lives better, more interesting, and more fun.
Our group (as of Aug 2024) has well over 14,000 vetted members. It is a closed group with selective membership so everyone needs to either be British, be married or related to a Brit, or have a good link to the UK to join.
It was originally set up to cover Dubai only but we have expanded across the whole of the Emirates and we will also admit Brits across the GCC.
In addition to our main group, we also have a linked group, British Expat Dubai ‘jobs jobs jobs’ which was set up to help people to find employment in the region and where we permit job adverts that are suitable for members of our group.
We are all about supporting British nationals in their lives here. We have a shared background, history, needs, and that is why we are not open to everyone. All applicants need to answer some really very simple questions in order to join and only members can view the group content. Oh, and all we ask is that our members show some manners when posting, after all that’s what British people are famous for throughout the world.
This website is intended to support the Facebook groups and provide useful content on all aspects of our lives in the UAE. It is a resource for anyone in the UAE or planning on moving to the GCC.
